Who We Are
A serendipitous opportunity to work with the Tate Galleries (UK) on its sustainability strategy led Rachel Madan, a sustainability consultant with a decade of experience, to set up Greener Museums. She has created a company dedicated to the belief that all museums, anywhere in the world, can become greener and more sustainable.
Combining her technical expertise in climate change and sustainability strategy with softer skills such as organizational change and leadership and advocacy development, Rachel helps museums and cultural organizations of all sizes to break through the barriers to more sustainable practices.
Prior to starting Greener Museums, Rachel was a Corporate Responsibility Consultant for Radley Yeldar in London. Her work included advising companies such as Marks and Spencer, Clifford Chance and 3i on communicating and understanding their environmental and social impacts. Before her transition to the private sector, Rachel worked as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders Program and as an Industrial Program Associate for Washington DC-based NGO the Alliance to Save Energy. She also developed an environmental-agricultural education program while serving in the Student Conservation Association AmeriCorps Program.
